FOURTH PERIOD (12.2018-06.2019)
Objectives
Improving the knowledge on cathecolaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) through online courses and associated tests addressed to cardiologists, general practitioners, emergency room doctors and specialists in internal medicine
Extensive screening for the identification of patients to be included in the study
Initiation of a National CPVT Registry through an on-line platform
The main objectives of this period have been the continuation of the clinical research regarding cathecolaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia in Romania, the inclusion of patients in the International Registry and the improvement of the knowledge on the disease in the medical environment, in the attempt to include more patients in the Registry.
Similar to the previous years, we have made efforts to inform the medical community in Romania on the project and, implicitly, on the existence of this rare disease, its presentation, diagnostic criteria and treatment.
This objective was achieved through the following:
The direct communication of information regarding the project to the public attending conferences; the target audience was made up mainly of cardiologists, but also included doctors from other specialties, likely to encounter patients with CPVT (general practitioners, specialists in internal medicine).
Completing the two courses on the e-learning platforms mentioned in the previous year, addressed to cardiologists and general practitioners.
We have continued our efforts to identify patients with CPVT through the following:
Retrospective analysis of the patient database of the Cardiology Clinic of the University and Emergency Hospital Bucharest, from the last 10 years;
Prospective analysis of the patients presenting to the Emergency Department of the University and Emergency Hospital Bucharest;
Screening of patients from two other important centers in the country- The Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Timisoara and The Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Prof Dr George IM Georgescu;
Screening of a pediatric population, from a neuropediatrics clinic in Bucharest.
We have continued the periodic evaluations of the patients already included in the study.
We have initiated a National Registry of CPVT, through an online platform.
One of the members of our team has attended the EHRA Congress, which is the most important annual European reunion addressing cardiac arrhythmias.
