SECOND PERIOD (12.2016-12.2017)

Objectives

The main objective was to finalize and consolidate the local infrastructure of the project.

We have continued our efforts to inform the national cardiology community about the project, by participating in several congresses and symposiums, as well as by repeated electronic messages, facilitated by the Romanian Society of Cardiology. Furthermore, we have attempted to reach a broader public by publishing an editorial in a medical journal, which is addressed to several specialities in medicine.

We have improved our knowledge on methods of screening for CPVT, as well as regarding procedures necessary in the study during a short stay in the coordinating centre, in Amsterdam. We have gained experience concerning the general approach to cardiac inherited diseases, by participating in the daily activity of the Cardiogenetics Clinic in the Academic Medical Centre. Furthermore, we have participated in the annual E-Rare CPVT meeting and have learned about the newest milestones achieved by the partners in the Consortium

The local infrastructure was consolidated during this period, by acquiring a 12 leads 48-hour Holter ECG and a 7-day event monitor. We have also trained the personnel involved in the project regarding the use of the previously mentioned equipment.

We have continued our screening for potential candidates for inclusion in the database of the University and Emergency Hospital and have been able to identify several patients. However, only one of them has been successfully contacted and has accepted to be enrolled in the study.

Through the collaboration with other centres in the country, we have managed to include another patient in the study. The genetic results for both of the previously mentioned patients are pending.
